Two SHS Staff Members Receive Grants!

Math Instructor Kim Barnes and Librarian Kim Davis recently received checks for $1000 from the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian for mini-grants they applied for.
Mrs. Barnes came up with a project for her Geometry classes in conjunction with the Construction Trades classes to create sun shades for the lunch area where seniors sit.  The classes will come up with designs using ratio measurements and geometry skills, and tarps will be ordered.  Then the construction classes will help with the installation.
Mrs. Davis applied for funds to buy additional Breakout Boxes, an activity similar to an escape room type-activity but easier to use in the classroom setting.  Students will use their abilities and skills to solve clues and "break in" to the boxes.  The boxes will be located in the library and available to all faculty members for checkout.
Congratulations to these two ladies, and we are so very thankful to the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian for their efforts and support of education!
