Two SHS athletes were recently awarded the honor of being named Farm Bureau's Athletes of the Month. Lauren Pickett played slow pitch softball for the Lady Tigers in their final season of the sport. Slow pitch is being replaced next year with volleyball as schools in Mississippi focus on fast pitch, a sport with the possibility of college advancement and scholarships. As just such an example of this possibility, Lauren Pickett has signed to continue playing softball at the college level at East Mississippi Community College. She is shown with her parents and her softball coaches Chris Harper, Tim Miller, Mac Fanning, and Jay Stoddard.
Slade O'Mell was a part of the District Winning Cross Country Team and was also honored as Male Athlete of the Month.
Last month's Female Athlete of the Month, ShaKira Wilson, recently also competed in the State All Star Team Game and represented us well.
